AAR Awards Crisis Fund Grants

May 29, 2020

The American Academy of Religion COVID-19 Crisis Fund, which was established to help members who have lost a significant portion of their incomes because of the coronavirus pandemic, has awarded thirty-five grants. Each recipient, who was selected by lottery, was notified by email and will receive a $500 grant.

We are grateful to the many AAR members who donated to the fund, as well as to the generosity of the Henry Luce Foundation, which gave an emergency grant of $25,000 to provide aid to members in need as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the response to it.  While the application period for this round is now closed, the AAR will begin accepting applications again in late summer or early fall to award the rest of the funds.

The AAR is hoping to provide financial assistance for many more members who need financial help during this time. Please consider a gift to our COVID-19 Crisis Fund.
