AAR Supports the Right of Grad Students to Organize

AAR Board Statement on Graduate Students' Right to Organize

Approved by the AAR Board of Directors on May 3, 2022

The American Academy of Religion endorses the right of graduate students to organize unions that will represent their members and their interests to the institutions that employ them. The labor of graduate students is essential to the mission of higher education and we believe that employees in all workplace settings should have the right to decide if they want to advocate for improved working conditions through union representation and collective bargaining.
