Editorial Changes at JAAR and RR

September 1, 2017

The AAR has restructured its editorial operations for the Journal of the American Academy of Religion and our online book review service, Reading Religion.

Dr. Andrea Jain, Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis, joins the team as Editor of JAAR. Andrea will be reviewing manuscripts, selecting peer reviewers, editing manuscripts for publication, choosing roundtables and other special features, and interfacing with our publisher, Oxford University Press.

The AAR is especially grateful to IUPUI, which has provided Andrea and JAAR with outstanding institutional support, including a reduced teaching load for Andrea as well grad student editorial assistants. This development allows AAR to enjoy partnerships with two fine research universities, Claremont Graduate University and IUPUI as well.

Dr. Cynthia Eller, Professor of Religion at Claremont Graduate University, will continue her management of both JAAR and RR, but with additional responsibilities. Cynthia will serve as General Editor and Book Review Editor of JAAR, and as Editor of RR.

Lisa Haygood, who has been serving part-time as the Managing Editor of RR has joined the team on a full-time basis.

I am grateful to Dr. Tammi Schneider, Professor of Religion at the Claremont Graduate University, for her efforts to initially locate the JAAR and RR offices at CGU and for her service as the Book Review Editor of JAAR. Many thanks, Tammi!

JAAR and RR are in excellent hands and I am deeply grateful for the leadership and service that Tammi, Cynthia, Lisa, and Andrea are providing to our Academy. If you see them in Boston, please extend your thanks as well.
