Aurora

Aurora, the e-learning platform from Beyond the Professoriate, helps AAR members explore career options and strategies for pursuing paths inside and outside academia. Aurora offers three programs of study: Career Strategies, Career Exploration, and Faculty Careers.

The Career Strategies program covers how to launch a successful non-faculty job search. Led by scholars working outside the professoriate, modules include networking, search strategies, resume writing, non-academic interviews, offer negotiation, and many other topics. Learning prompts enable personalized application.

The Career Exploration program delivers insights from PhDs with careers in non-profits, government, higher education administration, and other industries. Through seminars, career panels, and interviews, graduate students and PhDs can learn how to leverage their education for success within and beyond academia.

Faculty Careers helps prepare students and postdocs for academic careers. These webinars are taught primarily by PhD experts working in graduate career and professional development on university campuses. Topics include how to prepare a job application for faculty careers, how to write a teaching statement, how to write a research statement, on-campus interviews, on-campus teaching demonstrations, and negotiating a job offer.

Watch a video overview with the team behind this innovative tool to learn more about how it can help scholars explore their options.
