Shabbat Meals and Services at the 2014 Annual Meetings, San Diego

Shabbat Meals and Services

Shabbat meals and services will be at Chabad of Downtown San Diego, 308 G Street, San Diego, CA, just a few blocks from the San Diego Convention Center and most of the hotels. A minimum contribution of $25 is requested for each meal (Friday dinner and Saturday lunch) and should be made by credit card directly to their website at http://www.chabaddowntown.com, Events  > Friday Night Dinner  > Shabbat Dinner Reservations.

Their website should be updated shortly to reflect the correct dates. Please e-mail shabbat@sbl-site.org when you have made your reservation so we can keep track of who is coming. If you are coming from outside the US and cannot contribute through their website, please e-mail shabbat@sbl-site.org so that we can make alternative arrangements.

Friday night services: 5 PM
Friday night dinner: around 6:30 PM, following services
Saturday morning services: 10 AM
Saturday morning lunch: around 12:30 PM, following services
Saturday minchah services: following lunch

Synagogues

Chabad of Downtown San Diego, 308 G Street, San Diego, CA 92101 (http://www.chabaddowntown.com). It is approximately 4 blocks from the Convention Center.

As far as we have been able to determine, there are no other synagogues in the downtown area.

Kosher Food

A refrigerator will be available in the exhibit hall at the conference center in which participants may keep kosher food for lunch, etc.

According to information on the website of Chabad of Downtown San Diego (http://www.chabaddowntown.com), the Ralphs and Albertsons supermarkets carry many kosher food items.

Joseph Weinstein will be renting a small apartment near the Convention Center for the week and will be happy to informally host participants for weekday meals. Please e-mail shabbat@sbl-site.org if you are interested.

Kosher Restaurants

There is no eruv in downtown San Diego.
