Public Scholars Project Fellows

The Religious Freedom Center, a dynamic and growing department within the Newseum Institute, is pleased to announce an opportunity for scholars of religion and public life to serve as Public Scholars Project fellows for Fall 2017 (application deadline has passed), Spring 2018, or Summer 2018.

The Public Scholars Project is a joint initiative of the Public Understanding of Religion Committee of the American Academy of Religion and of the Religious Freedom Center of the Newseum Institute. Through seminars and other resources, the Public Scholars Project equips scholars of religion to effectively communicate in the public sphere and to foster religious literacy.

In support of this initiative, unpaid PSP Fellowships are available to graduate students who will conduct academic research at the Religious Freedom Center of the Newseum Institute in Washington, DC, and who are either eligible to receive academic credit for their fellowship experience or enrolled as a doctoral student in good standing.

Deadline for application for Spring 2018 is October 1, 2017.
