T-ools and R-esources for A-uthoring I-nteractive L-earning E-nviroments
BOOKS: _____________________; WEB LOCATION: http://www._____________________________
This method is to apply software(making a page on the Web)engineering methods to learning
support systems. It is user centered and requires active student involvement
(engagement) in the learning process by personal research and interacting with other
students on a team with particular roles while everyone is concern with not only the
tools(computers, pens,pencils,note pads,
graphics, etc.,but with the CONTENT[I.E. THE BOOK OF THE BIBLE, YOU ARE
COMMUNICATING]. Always ask, what is our underlying message of the product?
CONTENT VERSUS DELIVERY or CONTENT AND DELIVERY BOTH
COMMUNICATING THE MESSAGE.
TEAM 1: Former (non-literary) Prophets;
TEAM 2: Later (literary) Prophets;
TEAM 3: Writings; e.g. cf the following:
Roles:(FOR SECTION II-i.e.,six students);other sections for the other students:

3]).Learn about WAVE files,Midi for music (i.e.condensing for file
space purposes ),and a Synthesizer Chip in the Machine(what are
these elements?). Contribute material on ECCLESIASTES and

Coordinate with #1 as to the 'learning goal(s);evaluate.
(Student Name)_____________________________
6.Gopher-(Stage Manager,Prop coordinator, prompter,etc.). This person
will serve as a kind of devil's advocate, i.e.,'demanding
EVALUATION ALL ALONG IN THE PROCESS AND FINAL PRODUCT
AND DELIVERY. This person will research(CONTENT) the 1st and 2nd
Book of ESTHER(are these books in the Jewish/Protestant
Bibles?).
(Student Name)_____________________________
It is a Scenario based design.
Phase I:
Start with an outline in simple sentence structure to check your grammatical
writing skills and have it approved in the learning center.
It should contain:
A.What is your purpose, your 'story' you wish to tell
B.What methods of research will you use.
l.Library(on the internet or here at Barry[and even then perhaps on the
Web]);check the web page on World Religions on your particular
religion,e.g. http://www.networx.on.ca/`/eaf/religion/
2.Video/Graphic/Sound Clips
3.A visit to the Church of the Religion of the Team's choice, which the
professor has approved AHEAD OF TIME.
a)an interview, prearranged with the pastor, priest, rabbi, clerk of
the meeting, parson, reverend, etc. and a lay member(woman or
man) who is a practicing member of that community
b)attendance at a 'usual',(not a special event or feast) service.
Notice everybody and everything,e.g. whether they
sit, stand, kneel, what objects or material they use, what is the
architectural style(recall that 'as a person practices, so they
believe.' What does the space and the time factors communicate.
What is the essence of the service, etc."?
c)ask questions of the people you interview,e.g.What is the meaning
of life? Is life real or only an illusion? Where are we going? Is
there a 'heaven' or a 'hell'; what about 'salvation', redemption',
'sin','virtue', the 'good life', 'immortality', eternal life. Where did
we come from. Why?
4.Hand in the examined (in the Learning Lab,lst Fl. of Garner to the right
as you enter the first floor doors to the left
of the elevator) statement to your professor for approval, acceptance and
permission to proceed. It must have been signed and dated by a member
of the staff of the Learning Center.
Phase II:
A.Gather you information from written and/or media resources and from your
'phenomonological experience' of the persons practicing the religion in their
space and time;gather your other elements from the Web, or outside
graphics, music etc. Have your written material check in the Learning Center
before putting it on THE INTERNET PAGE(WHICH WILL BE ON FR.
MADDEN'S PAGE, Under Theo. 108
B.Go to the Computer Lab and ask e.g. Alberto Fernandez to please work with
you and to put you religion on my page under Theo. 108. I will have spoken
to Alberto, or to Tom Ayers.
C.Create the page on the Book of the Bible assigned for you to demonstrate and
communicate your knowledge and experience with your classmates and the
THE WORLD.
Phase III:
A.Demonstrate and communicate your project and findings
B.Collect the critiques from your peers(average them out[5 % of your grade])
and from the professor(15 % of your grade). Evaluate yourself on your
personal critique(10 % of your grade);adding them together to see what
percent of the 30 % of your presentation grade you will receive for that
part of your final grade.
Presentation will contain the following written material(or demonstrated in some other
fashion. Each team's report to be check in the Learning Center and then the disk of your
section given to your "PRODUCER" (For your team's Web presentation)
1.Explanation of the tile of the Book:The NAME, where does it come
from and what does it mean.
2.DATE of its composition(may differ from the historical period that the
material in the book covers.
3.A brief OUTLINE;then, THE THEME, AND MESSAGE(S) OF THE BOOK
4.The LANGUAGE of the book
5.It's application today in today's world and it's people and how various
religious traditions use it in the system(s) of Faith and Practices.
6.The visual aids(graphics, video clips, sound, or motion clips you use in
the 'PAGE' should help communicate it's MESSAGE.
The professor in this model serves as a tutor, moderator resource person,
primary and tertiary /ultimate EVALUATOR. The professor will provide information
on Introductory materials and the other books not covered by the students including
definitions of terms, analyzing and synthesizing, etc.
Only one [1] (if necessary two [2]) student to one role / Book, first request will
be honor use form indicated.
The WEB PRESENTATIONS COULD BE GENERALIZED,I.E.,ONE TEAM MAY
HAVE EACH INDIVIDUALLY CHOSEN ONE OF THE HISTORICAL BOOKS(e.g.
JOSHUA,JUDGES & RUTH, SAMUEL, KINGS, CHRONICLES, ESDRA/NEHEMIAH
OR MACHABEES[1 AND 2); OR THE 'CONCEPT OF PROPHECY',WITH SOME
ONE PERSON COVERING THE NON-LITERARY PROPHETS[e.g.ELIJAH,ELISHA,
NATHAN, HULDAH -'the prophetess';and then, the other three persons covering the
major prophets:ISAIAH, JEREMIAH, AND EZECHIEL];THEN PERHAPS TWO
TEAMS COULD DIVIDE UP THE 12 MINOR('literary') prophets:OSEE,JOEL,
JONAS, tc.;THEN, THE 'WRITINGS' COULD BE ANOTHER TEAM:PSALMS,
WISDOM, ECCLESIATICUS, ECCLESIASTEES, SONG OF SONGS, ESTHER,
TOBIAS, JOB, PROVERBS).
CHECK THE COPYRIGHTS OF ALL MATERIALS YOU ARE USING. IF OLDER
THAN 80 YRS. THERE SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM.
