- identify the main abuses within the church prior to the Reformation
- describe the main sequence of events that led to the Protestant Reformation
Module 7 Objectives
By the end of this module you will be able to:
- describe the origins of the twentieth century ecumenical movement
- understand the rationale and theology of ecumenism
- identify the different christian churches and their origins as described in the Decree on Ecumenism.
Module 8 Objectives
By the end of this module you will be able to:
- identify the mission of the church as found in the New Testament
- articulate the difference between mission and ministries
- articulate a theology of mission for the contemporary church
- discuss the implications of mission for the local church
Module 9 Objectives
By the end of the module you will be able to:
- show how the gospel and social justice are linked
- demonstrate why the church should be involved in social justice issues
- demonstrate a biblical base for justice
- show knowledge of some of the issues addressed in Gaudium et Spes
Module 10 Objectives
By the end of the module you will be able to :
- articulate the difference between ministries and mission
- identify the ministries present in the New Testament writings
- distinguish between the ministerial and the common (baptismal) priesthood
- articulate a theology of ministries
- name and describe the variety of ministries in the contemporary church

- describe the religious composition of Australia, and of Christianity in Australia in particular
- offer explanations for the changes in numbers and practice in the Christian Churches over the decades, particularly post World War II
- identify the trends in Christianity in Australia today
- suggest how the Christian Churches might use the sociological data collected on the Christian churches
