A number of the primary source texts we'll read in this class can be found directly on line. There are links to them from the weekly syllabus, but you can also access them directly here. Make sure you print out these readings; read the hard copies (do *not* attempt to read them off the screen!), mark them up with your notes and observations, then bring these to class.

Esther De Boer, Mary Magdalene: Beyond the Myth (Harrisburg, PA: Trinity Press International, 1996).
Beverly Gaventa, Mary: Glimpses of the Mother of Jesus (Minneapolis: Fortress, 1999).
Jaroslav Pelikan, Mary Through the Centuries: Her Place in History and Culture (New Haven, CT: Yale University Press, 1983)
Ingrid Maisch, Mary Magdalene: The Image of a Woman Through the Centuries (Collegeville, MN: The Liturgical Press, 1998).
If you do not have your own Bible, I highly recommend you buy a good one. I have ordered some copies of the Harper Collins Study Bible. You may, however, use any Bible with the exception of a modern paraphrased bible or a King James Version.
