Student Liaison Group
Student Liaisons serve as a resource for students who need information about AAR’s programs and services, report on the needs and activities of students to the Student Director, and participate in efforts to expand student involvement in the Academy. The Student Liaison Group (SLG) is comprised of students who have been elected or appointed by their institution to serve as a vital link between the students at their institution and the AAR. Student Liaisons must be enrolled in PhD programs granting degrees in religion, theology or cognate fields, and must have been an AAR member for 12 months prior to their appointment. Students are encouraged to contact their Student Liaison with questions about the AAR or to make suggestions about ways the AAR can better serve students.
Student Liaisons:
- Host informational sessions at their institution about the AAR in general and other Academy related issues.
- Encourage the implementation of professional development programming at their home institutions.
- When needed, serve as a link between AAR student members and AAR Regionally Elected Directors.
- Attend the annual SLG business meeting at the AAR Annual Meeting.
- Submit yearly reports to the Student Director about student issues and concerns at their institution.
Terms last 2 years (4 semesters) and are eligible for renewal once. If you are interested in becoming a Student Liaison, please read the Student Liaison nomination policies and procedures and the Student Liaison job description. Contact Myesha D. Jenkins (mjenkins@aarweb.org) with questions.
