Unicode Characters

The Unicode font map is designed to cover the overwhelming majority of characters that are needed for any sort of publication.  It incorporates characters from alphabets, syllabaries, and calligraphic writings systems – both the common (Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc.) and the obscure (Deseret, Ogham, Linear B, Khmer, Tagbanwa, etc.).  It also incorporates symbols (mathematical operators, dingbats, technical symbols, arrows, music [including Byzantine music symbols], Tai Xuan Jing, etc.)  In short, it's way to big to reproduce here.

On this page are the Latin characters that are part of the current Unicode schema.  Highlight any Unicode character you need, copy it, and then paste it into the text you are editing.

Ligatures, Digraphs, and Other Characters

The font used to display these characters is Arial Unicode, because it is the most complete Unicode font that is part of the Windows operating system.  Note, however, that not all ligatures will show up as discrete characters in this font:  A prominent example is "fi," which shows up with a break between the characters in this font, but which will show up as a proper ligature in the Times New Roman font.
