Diacritical Characters

The AAR strives to include diacritical characters properly in our records.  To enter diacritical characters on a PC, do the following:

  1. Make certain that NUM LOCK is selected.
  2. Hold down the ALT key.
  3. Enter the correct numerical sequence, from one of the tables below, on the numeric keypad.  (Note that this will work only if you use the numeric keypad – not the numbers at the top of the keyboard above the alphabet.)
  4. Release the ALT key.

You can also copy characters from this page and paste them into the appropriate locations.
