Mid-Atlantic Region
Registration Information for Publishers and Vendors for 2010 Regional Meeting
July 20, 2009
Dear Sales and Publishing Representatives:
The 2010 joint annual meeting of the Mid-Atlantic (MAR-AAR) and New England/Maritimes (NEM-AAR) regions of the American Academy of Religion and the Mid-Atlantic Society of Biblical Literature (MAR-SBL) will be held on March 11 and 12, 2010. This year we will be returning to the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Brunswick, NJ, where we have met often in recent years. The New Brunswick Hyatt is three blocks from the local Amtrak station, nineteen miles from Newark International Airport, and thirty miles from New York City. Our plenary speakers will be announced at a later date.
We welcome interested publishers of scholarly titles in biblical studies, religious studies, and theology to host sales tables at the annual meeting. As in past years, all tables are $100 for the duration of the conference, whether they are staffed or unstaffed. If a vendor wants to use only half a table to display one particular book or brochures, then the fee is $50. If vendors send their own representatives to the meeting, we will cover all of their registration costs for the event. For unstaffed tables we will set up book displays and brochures for publishers. In return, we have asked in the past that any unsold display copies be donated to the MAR-AAR/SBL.
The Hyatt Regency offers online hotel room registration at http://newbrunswick.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp. In order to receive the discounted conference rate when booking online, be sure to indicate that you are attending the MAR/NEM-AAR conference.
Alternatively you may call the Hyatt Regency at (732) 873-1234 to reserve rooms. Please indicate that you are attending our conference so that you can receive the conference rate. Discounted single and double-occupant hotel rooms ($99 plus state and local taxes) will be held until February 17, 2010. After that date, normal hotel rates will apply. Since only 50 discounted rooms have been reserved for Wednesday, March 10 and Thursday, March 11, we strongly encourage you to reserve your room early. Parking is available at the Hyatt for $6 a day.
I am happy to answer any questions that publishers and sales representatives have regarding shipping information, the conference program, or any related details. We look forward to seeing you in New Brunswick.
Sincerely,
Chris Denny – St. John’s University (NY)
